Group of vintage P-47s in flight formation

Airshow

The 2008 Millville Wheels & Warbirds Airshow will feature more than two dozen authentic WWII aircraft in three-hour aerial displays each day from 1pm to 4pm.

“World-class warbirds are flying into Millville to help honor its WWII history and welcome the new race track,” says Terry Rush, warbird coordinator. “Dozens of warbirds valued at well over $50 million will be participating. We are planning very realistic aerial re-creations reflecting events of WWII using the actual airplanes that performed those missions.

“One of the highlights of the weekend will be the display of four WWII rare P-47 Thunderbolts,” continues Rush, who is the pilot for an extensive warbird collection owned by Thomas Duffy that is kept at Millville Airport, many of which will be flying in the airshow.

“We understand and appreciate the significance of the Thunderbolt here at Millville. Tom Duffy acquired a P-47 in 2007 specifically because of its valued history here. Dozens of them once sat on these runway ramps awaiting pilot flight training or orders for deployment. We are proud to be presenting four of only ten P-47s that are still flying!”
