Garden State 50’s Auto Club hosts Invitational Class Car Show at new NJMP 2008 Millville ‘Wheels & Warbirds’ Event

Largest antique car show in the Mid-Atlantic Region grows in numbers and variety

The Garden State 50’s Auto Club will host the classic car show at the 16th annual Wheels & Warbirds Airshow at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21, 2008 — from 8am to 5pm.

The two-day classic car show will feature ‘Club Day’ on Saturday, with numerous Delaware Valley car clubs participating. They will enjoy an up-front view of the airshow and racing on both the Thunderbolt and Lightning NJMP Racetracks.

Sunday is ‘Trophy Show’ day, which culminates with an awards ceremony recognizing the ‘best of the best’ in a multitude of classic car categories building up to best of show. Along with the classic automobiles displayed by the 200 member Garden State 50’s Auto Club, the 2008 Invitational Car Show will include a variety of other automobile clubs from the greater Delaware Valley.

“Each year the Wheels & Wings Car Show presents a new and exciting variety of classic automobiles,” says John Wolfe, president of the Garden State 50’s Auto Club. “Owners of antique cars really enjoy the airshow and the opportunity to display their beautifully restored and maintained classics. This year they will be able to see exciting vintage and sports car racing as well! Saturday and Sunday will feature a variety of special model cars, trucks and hot rods. Altogether we anticipate more than 300 beautifully restored classics on display each day!”

Wheels & Wings Airshow and Car Show 2008 is the largest car show in southern New Jersey and one of the top five in the entire Mid-Atlantic Region. The Garden State 50’s Auto Club has been part of the Millville Airshow since its beginning in 1992. The show benefits the Millville Army Air Field Museum (MAAFM), which commemorates the aviation history of Millville Airport — “America’s First Defense Airport.”

Hot rod on display at the Car Show“We’re proud to continue supporting the Millville Army Air Field Museum by being part of the 2008 Millville Wheels & Warbirds Airshow at its new NJMP location. The Millville Airshow has always been one of the highlights of the car show circuit throughout Southern New Jersey and surrounding states,” says Tracy Ushler, the Garden State 50’s Auto Club’s events coordinator. “This year, our members, along with the many visiting car show participants, will really enjoy the racing too!”

“The Garden State 50’s Auto Club and visiting auto clubs really make this event special,” says Museum president and airshow director Russell Davis. “The classic cars are unique and diverse. Everyone enjoys checking out the many rows of beautiful classic cars and trucks while looking up at the aerial displays. The car show has grown along with the airshow and now it follows us into our partnership with NJMP. We thank them for their outstanding presentation year after year and continued support of the Millville Army Air Field Museum.”
